Notre Dame Set For Clash With No. 7 Louisville

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving (1-3) has a big test ahead of itself on Friday, as the Irish host No. 7 Louisville (2-0) at Rolfs Aquatics Center. Peterson Family Head Coach Chris Lindauer’s group has faced a gauntlet already this season — Notre Dame has faced ranked teams in its last three contests — and this will be no different.

Freshman Carli Cronk continues to be a bright spot for the Irish. She won the 400 IM against Michigan and Wisconsin with a time of 4:15.53, which remains the 17th-fastest time in the NCAA this year. She has already won three events this year, and she has notched second in two other events.

Louisville has a star freshman of its own in Daria Golovaty. In their latest meet against Tennessee, she broke pool records in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle. She has the fourth and 13th fastest times, respectively, in the country this year.

Several other Louisville swimmers have posted top-10 times in the nation this season, including Julia Dennis (50 free), Mia Cheatwood (200 breast), Ella Welch (100 fly), Gabi Albiero (100 fly) and Kim Herkle (400 IM).

Louisville has beaten both Xavier and Tennessee this season and won the SMU Classic in mid-October.

Friday’s meet begins at 6 p.m.
