Notre Dame Set For Ohio State Fall Invitational

The three-day competition will feature four ranked teams

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After a gauntlet schedule featuring four ranked teams this fall, Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving heads on the road this week for its midseason meet at Ohio State starting Thursday.

The Irish will face tough competition again this weekend, as the Ohio State Fall Invitational features No. 3 Indiana, No. 7 Louisville, No. 15 Ohio State and No. 24 UCLA. Cincinnati, Penn State and Yale will also be there. Rutgers will participate in diving only.

A few names have stuck out for the Irish to date, including a pair of freshmen. Carli Cronk won two events in her collegiate debut and followed that with a 400 IM victory against Michigan and Indiana. Her time of 4:15.53 ranks eighth in school history and ranks 25th in the nation this year.

Hollie Widdows won the 50 free against Miami University to start her college career (23.16), and she has had a constant presence in the scoring heats for the Irish this season. Widdows along with Jess Geriane, Imogen Meers and Madelyn Christman broke the school record in the 200 free relay against Louisville two weeks ago with an NCAA A cut of 1:27.84.
