PARIS — It’s not just any top-10 showdown to kick off the 2023-24 college basketball season. It’s a matchup between No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 6 South Carolina in the City of Lights. Talk about an opener.

“We are ecstatic about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play in Paris, and we cannot thank the city of Paris enough for its efforts in making this possible.” Karen and Kevin Keyes Family Head Coach Niele Ivey said. “Being able to play in a historic venue while having the game showcased back home on ESPN is another step in the right direction for women’s basketball as it continues to grow both in the United States and across the globe.”

Monday’s game will be the first time any college basketball game has been played in Paris.

In Notre Dame’s exhibition on last week, the Irish drubbed Purdue NW, 110-48. Hannah Hidalgo and Sonia Citron led the way with 23 and 22 points, respectively. Becky Obinma posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Six players scored more than 10 points.

Fans also got an early look at South Carolina in October when the Gamecocks hosted an exhibition game against Rutgers on Oct. 22. Kamilla Cardoso paced the team with 17 points and 5 rebounds, while Chloe Kitts had a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. MiLaysia Fulwiley, a five-star recruit in the 2023 class, had 16 points.

Monday’s game tips off at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN.
