Notre Dame Volleyball Finishes 2006-07 Season With Annual Awards Banquet

NOTRE DAME, Ind.- The Notre Dame volleyball team recently held its annual awards banquet to conclude the 2006-07 campaign. Highlighting the afternoon for the Irish was junior Adrianna Stasiuk (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) being named the team MVP.

Stasiuk was named the Notre Dame Monogram Club Team MVP for the first time in her career. During her junior season, Stasiuk led the Irish kills (329) and points (400.5) and was second in digs (354) and service aces (30), while also serving as a team captain. She was also an all-BIG EAST First-Team selection and first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District.

Sophomore Justine Stremick (Langdon, N.D./Langdon Area) was also recognized at the banquet, as the volleyball winner of the Knute Rockne Student-Athlete Award by the Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph. Stremick, during the season, led the Irish in blocks (156) and hitting percentage (.304). Additionally, she was also an all-BIG EAST Second-Team selection and second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District choice.

Notre Dame finished the 2006-07 season with an 18-14 record, advanced to the champion game of the BIG EAST Tournament for the 12th time and made its 15 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Irish welcome back 11 monogram winners for the `07-08 season.
