SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame track and field team was in action all over the country at four meets this weekend, with the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by the Azusa Pacific University, Georgia Tech Invitational, ISU Gibson Invite hosted by Indiana State and the Virginia Challenge hosted by UVA.
Bryan Clay Invitational
Sophie Novak continued her impressive spring campaign in Southern California, placing first in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:24.95. This performance set a new Bryan Clay Invitational meet record for the steeplechase. This is now the second-fastest steeplechase time in Irish history. She currently holds the fastest time in the country this season in this event with her time from Thursday night.
Rosie Mucharsky competed in the open 3,000m Steeplechase and finished third with a time of 10:09.48.
Gretchen Farley finished 11th in the 800m with a time of 2:03.82, which now makes it the second-fastest 800m performance in program history. This time ranks Farley 23rd on the 2026 NCAA Division I East Outdoor List.
Chloe Huyler finished fifth in the 5000m (Invite Heat 3) with a time of 15:58.69, which places Huyler currently 38th on the 2026 NCAA Division I East Outdoor List.
Siona Chisholm finished 14th in the 10,000m with a time of 33:22.65, the eighth-fastest time in program history.
Cameron Todd finished 21st with a time of 13:38.97 in the 5000m, now the sixth-fastest in Notre Dame history in this event.
John Schuler finished 33rd in the 800m with a time of 1:48.79 and 39th in the 1500m with a time of 3:43.48.
Virginia Challenge
Reed Cherry and Matthew Smith were the lone representatives of the Irish at the Virginia Challenge. Both competed in the 800m, a race where the facility record was set by the top finisher. Cherry set a personal best with a time of 1:47.80. Cherry moves up to fifth in the 800m in program history, as this time moved Pete Farrell’s time of 1:48.0 from 1966 to sixth. Matthew Smith finished 19th with a time of 1:48.26.
ISU Gibson Invite
A majority of Notre Dame’s field athletes were in action over in Terre Haute, Indiana at the ISU Gibson invite. Obiora Okeke continues to perform at a high level; he won the shot put with a mark of 18.69m (61’ 04”). Zach Petko finished third with a mark of 17.69 (58’ 00.50”).
Okeke paired his first-place finish in shot put with the top performance in the discus as well. Winning the discus with a mark of 56.35m, he placed sixth in the hammer with a mark of 59.73m (195’ 11”).
In the hammer throw, Benjamin Pable finished second with a mark of 64.46m (211’ 05”). This is Pable’s best hammer throw of the season. He currently ranks 23rd on the 2026 NCAA Division I East Outdoor List.
In the collegiate Discus event, Zach Petko finished second with a mark of 48.90m (160’ 05”), while Peyton Murray recorded a season-best mark of 47.22m (154’ 11”), finishing sixth.
Jillian Strafford finished fourth in the hammer with a mark of 58.37m (191’ 06”). The fourth-best throw in Irish history. This mark places her 40th currently on the 2026 NCAA Division I East Outdoor List.
John Dearie set a personal best in the 400m hurdles, placing first with a time of 53.22.
Ore Olusi finished second in the collegiate shot put event with a mark of 13.56m (44’ 6”).
Chris White finished eighth in the javelin throw with a mark of 49.58m (162’ 08”).
Georgia Tech Invitational
Reese Sanders finished sixth in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 59.81.
Jack Ahart finished fourth in the 400m with a time of 46.69.
Zhara Bichara finished 12th in the long jump with a time of 5.59m (18’ 4.25”).
