Nuguse Sets World Record at Millrose Games

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Notre Dame alumnus, former NCAA Champion and 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Yared Nuguse added another accolade to his growing career list of honors – World Record holder – as he held off the field to capture the Millrose Mile in the record-breaking time of 3:46.63.

Nuguse broke the previous record of 3:47.01 set by Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha in 2019.

According to NBC Sports, Nuguse is the first American to hold an indoor or outdoor mile world record on the track since Mary Slaney held both women’s records in the 1980s.

The Millrose Mile victory is the third-consecutive win at the even for Nuguse.
