DALLAS — Arike Ogunbowale has played for one NCAA team and one WNBA team. She is now the all-time leading scorer of both.
On Monday, the former Irish guard scored 17 points for the Dallas Wings in an 89-72 victory over the Washington Mystics. In doing so, she became the team’s all-time leading scorer since the move to Dallas in 2016 with 2,671 points, passing Skylar Diggins-Smith (2,670). Ogunbowale accomplished the feat in just 133 games.
Through 16 games and an 8-8 record this year, Ogunbowale is scoring 22.1 points per game, which ranks second in the WNBA. She was the third-highest vote-getter in the voting for the All-Star Game and will start at Las Vegas’ Michelob Ultra Arena on July 15 alongside fellow former Irish guards Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young. The Wisconsin native was the 2021 All-Star Game MVP.
Ogunbowale remains Notre Dame’s all-time leading scorer, having scored 2,626 points from 2015-19. That mark ranks third in ACC history.
Next up, Dallas will head to Las Vegas on Wednesday for a 10 p.m. battle with the 14-1 Aces.
