Olivia Mitchell Named Director of Football Operations

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — University of Notre Dame Dick Corbett Head Football Coach Brian Kelly has named Olivia Mitchell his program’s Director of Football Operations. Mitchell has spent the past three seasons within the football operations department for the Fighting Irish.

Mitchell is the second female to serve in the role at Notre Dame, one of seven females among Power 5 FBS programs to hold the title of director of football operations, and the only African-American female director of football operations at a Power 5 institution.

In her role, Mitchell is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the football program, coordinating a variety of administrative details including team travel, preseason camp and practice arrangements, summer camps and the annual coaches clinic. She works closely with Associate Athletic Director and football sport administrator Ron Powlus to execute various operational capacities around.

Mitchell previously served as a team operations intern for the College Football Playoff. She assisted in the planning and execution of all events and operations associated with the teams participating in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship. Mitchell supervised all planning materials requested from the four participating teams, assisted participants’ personnel in the execution of various tasks as it relates to practice, schedules, travel and facilities. She participated in the development and managed the execution of the team and official party hospitality programs.

Mitchell graduated from Notre Dame in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She was a senior recruiting assistant for the Irish football program during her undergraduate years. Mitchell also interned for Athletes First, LLC., and the National Football League’s Chicago Bears.
