SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Following a perfect 4-0 dual season debut, Peter Nad was named ACC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today. Nad helped lead the team to wins over Duquesne and Western Michigan to start the season 2-0.
A native of Košice, Slovakia, Nad won two matches each at singles and doubles. Pairing up with Sebastian Dominko at No. 1 doubles, the Irish duo, which is ranked No. 78 in the ITA doubles rankings, took down its first ranked opponent of the season, knocking off No. 109 Davison/Pierce of Western Michigan 6-3.
In singles play, Nad won in straight sets at the No. 5 position, winning 6-2, 6-4 in the morning match against Pierce Manning of Duquesne before a 6-2, 6-3 evening victory over Jack Davison of the Broncos.
Nad and the Irish continue the spring dual season with a trio of matches this weekend, starting Friday at 6:30 PM against Princeton inside the Eck Tennis Pavilion before hosting Yale at noon and Saint Joseph’s at 5:00 PM on Sunday. Admission to all Notre Dame tennis matches are free.
