SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – It was a tough night at the office for the University of Notre Dame volleyball team Friday, as the Irish fell to Seton Hall, 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-22), in the opening match of the Seton Hall Classic.
The Irish couldn’t get anything going against the Pirates, who picked up their first win in program history against Notre Dame in 20 chances (1-19 all-time).
Seton Hall hit .362 for the match, while the Irish attacked at just a .091 clip. Notre Dame recorded only 20 kills (19 assists) for the match as opposed to 53 for the home team.
There were just six ties and one lead change during the match.
Freshman libero Ryann DeJarld had 11 digs, while sophomore Sydney Kuhn had six kills, five digs, two blocks and one service ace. Junior Katie Higgins tallied four kills (.308 A%), three blocks and one service ace.
Notre Dame (1-3) closes out the tournament Saturday with a pair of matches against Temple (12 p.m. ET) and Hofstra (5:30 p.m. ET).
