Player Quotes

Samantha Sommers – Minnesota – Senior

On her strengths today:
“Putting was definitely my biggest strength today, I only had 25 putts, so that shows that I did well there; focusing on being consistent and maintaining good tempo.”

On overcoming a double bogey:
“I don’t really know how I got in that position, but then I realized I had a couple of holes left and I would be fine. In that situation you have to have patience, and today I had patience and it ended up well.”

Emily Tubert – Arkansas – Freshman

On the differences between today’s and yesterday’s rounds:
“Driving the ball off the tee was a big difference. I gave myself lots of opportunities to hit greens, and then I hit more greens and made more putts. The game is easy when you can hit it like I did today. Yesterday I wasn’t driving it well, but I worked hard on the range yesterday and today I had lots of opportunities.”

On having momentum going into the final day:
“I love this golf course and I’m exactly where I want to be going into the last day. I’m not really sure at this time where everybody is at but I am right up there, and everything feels good. I’ll probably go practice a little bit tonight, but I’m feeling really good for tomorrow.”

Austin Ernst – LSU – Freshman

On her play today:
“Today I was just trying to control the ball a bit more. It was also pretty windy yesterday similar to today, but I feel like I have really good control on my ball right now with my irons and I just try to get on the green.”

On her approach to her final round tomorrow:
“I want to do the same things I’ve been doing the past few days and hopefully get a few more putts to drop and see what happens.”

Coaches Quotes

UCLA Head Coach Carrie Forsyth

On her team’s play today:
“We struggled a little bit today, but I thought the conditions were a little tougher today and rather windy. We weren’t too happy with what we shot, but standing on the outside looking at what we did relative to the field, we did alright. “

On going into the final round in first place:
“The big thing is to get over some of the bad shots we had today, which I think everybody in the field had some problems with. We need to stay confident and do the right things. We’ll make a few small adjustments tonight, but we’ll come back and really just try to do the right things.”

LSU Head Coach Karen Bahnsen

On the team’s play today:
“The team just continued to keep fighting. The scores up there are pretty high, but I think it’s a great golf course and you just have to keep your composure and eliminate some mental mistakes.”

On the windy conditions today:
“This is golf and it’s part of (the game). You just have to go with it. I’m proud of these girls. They played tough, and it’s again keeping your composure and not giving in.”

Minnesota Head Coach John Harris

On his team’s strong play today:
“The team played beautifully. We had some great weather this morning, and our girls mixed and matched really well. They are a good team, and they are playing the way that they need to play. Teresa (Puga) and Samantha (Sommers) are both seniors and have put in a lot of work and it has shown so far this tournament. “
