NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Recent Xavier graduate and two-year staff member of the Xavier University volleyball team Kevin Prendergast has joined the University of Notre Dame volleyball program as the operations specialist, head coach Debbie Brown announced Monday.

Prendergast, who graduated from Xavier in December with a degree in sport management, will assist the Irish program with practices, matches and travel in addition to other daily responsibilities.

“I’m extremely excited to become part of the Notre Dame volleyball program,” said Prendergast. “My family raised me as a fan of Notre Dame so when this job came up, I jumped at the opportunity. My great grandmother told my grandmother that she wanted a grandson to attend Notre Dame. I’d like to think that I fulfilled her wish.”

With Xavier, Prendergast was the volleyball team’s Technical Advisor and was responsible for the program Data Volley, which helped tally stats on the Musketeers and their opponents. Prendergast also put together films on opponents and worked on in-game trends to pass along to the coaching staff.

“When we were interviewing Kevin I was most impressed with his working knowledge of Data Volley,” said Brown. “He is a very creative, organized, personable and thorough person and will be able to provide us with a lot of useful information. Kevin fits in great with the staff and loves volleyball so we are excited to add him to the staff.”

A club men’s volleyball player at Xavier in 2011-12, Prendergast served as the service chair for the team during the year.
