OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Notre Dame junior Mark Quatrani was selected as the Buster Posey Collegiate Catcher of the Week by the College Baseball Foundation on May 5.
The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native posted a .632 batting average as the Irish went 5-0 last week. He was 12-for-19 with three doubles, a home run, five runs scored and 11 RBI. Quatrani registered a .947 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .625 for a 1.572 OPS. He had two sacrifice flies and walked three times.
Quatrani added a .600 average with runners in scoring position and was 6-for-7 (.857) when batting with two outs during the week. He had five RBIs with two outs.
Defensively, Quatrani boasted a 1.000 fielding percentage behind the plate with three assists and 35 putouts. He caught three of the four runners trying to steal during the week.
It is the first Buster Posey Collegiate Cacher of the Week honor of his career.
