NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Three-time All-American Todd Rassas (Northfield, Ill.) has been named the 1998 Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Year. The senior defensemen also was an all-league selection on defense for the third consecutive year.

Joining Rassas on the squad was senior midfield Jimmy Keenan (Floral Park, N.Y.) and junior attack Chris Dusseau (Columbus, Ohio).

Rassas is the third Irish player to earn GWLL player of the year accolades and is only the second three-time All-American in the program’s history after earning third team honors this season. A three-year starter, he played in 50 games during his career, scored two goals, and dished off two assists in addition to collecting 194 ground balls.

Keenan, who along with Rassas captained Notre Dame in ’98, became a starter for the Irish midway through his freshman season. He led the Irish in scoring as a sophomore and senior. This season, he tallied 22 goals and dished off 13 assists and finished his career with 54 goals and 63 assists (117 points).

Dusseau has started all 37 games during his three-year career at Notre Dame. For the third consecutive year, he led the squad in goals scored (24) and was third overall in the scoring column with 26 points. He has scored 82 goals and dished off nine assists (91 points) in three seasons.
