Two Pool Records Fall At Last Chance Meet

Reyes-Gentry and Eckler claimed the spots at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After making a final in all three of his individual events at the ACC Championships last week, Marcus Reyes-Gentry continued to make waves for the Irish this weekend. The senior broke the Louisville pool record in the 100 back on Friday with a new personal best time of 44.59. The mark is just 0.01 off the Notre Dame program record held by Tommy Janton.

Despite falling just short of his best time, sophomore Shane Eckler also broke the Louisville pool record in the 50 free with a time of 18.99.

Another notable swim came from rookie Emily Hamill, who lowered her best time in the 200 backstroke to a 1:52.93. That mark ranks second in program history. Hamill went 1:53.15 in finals to win the event as well.

Finally, sophomore Brady Calkins also posted a best time in the 200 back, going 1:44.05.

Up next, the Irish divers head to Eastern Michigan this weekend for Zone C Championships before select men’s and women’s student-athletes will participate in the 2026 NCAA Championships. The women’s swimming entries will be finalized on March 4 before competition from March 18-21, while the men’s entries will come the following week for the meet March 25-28. Both meets will be held at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech, which was also the site of ACC Championships last month.
