CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, senior goalie Thomas Ricciardelli has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Ricciardelli was magnificent in Notre Dame’s 7-6 win over No. 16/15 Duke on the road on Saturday. The senior made 17 saves while allowing just six goals for a .739 save percentage.
Ricciardelli led the ACC on the week in fewest goals allowed (6) and save percentage (73.9) while tying for most saves (17). The shot stopper has recorded double-digit saves in each of the last six games.
The shot-stopper now leads the league and ranks second in the country in both save percentage (60.2) and goals allowed per game (7.75).
Ricciardelli and the Fighting Irish wrap up the regular season with a top-5 matchup at Arlotta Stadium at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 25, as they take on No. 5 Syracuse. Admission to the game is free and it will stream on ACCNX.
