All NSCAA Scholar All-America Selections

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame women’s soccer senior Cari Roccaro officially capped her collegiate career Thursday with her third academic honor of the season when she was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women’s University Division Scholar All-America Third Team.
To be named to a Scholar All-America Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA member. This is Roccaro’s second NSCAA Scholar All-America honor after also being named to last year’s third team.
With a 3.595 GPA as a sociology major, Roccaro was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District V team before earning a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team in late November. She was an All-ACC Second Team pick, making her the eighth player in program history to earn all-conference honors four times, and was also named to the NSCAA All-Southeast Region First Team and All-America Third Team.
Roccaro started every game of her Irish career, including in 20 this season as one-half of Notre Dame’s talented central defensive tandem with fellow senior Katie Naughton. She played a key role in helping keep Irish opponents off the board in 12 contests and helped mitigate scoring threats by allowing just 5.4 shots per game.
