Alex Buell enters his second season on the staff of the University of Notre Dame fencing program, serving as the operations director for the Fighting Irish fencers. Buell competed with the team as an undergrad, and was a member of the 2011 National Championship team.
Before returning to Notre Dame, Buell worked as an executive assistant at Anthony Travel in the South Bend offices, assisting Anthony Travel’s executive leadership and in a support role to the Collegiate Services team, serving athletic department clients nationwide. He had interned at the University of California – Berkeley’s Athletics department in a similar role during the 2011-12 schoolyear.
During the summer and fall of 2010, Buell had the opportunity to attend the Chicago Bears Advertising and Events training camp as an intern. Following the camp, he was hired as a member of the 2010 advertising and events gameday staff with the Bears.
Buell graduated cum laude from Notre Dame in 2011 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration – Marketing. He was a four year member of the fencing team and also played in the baritone section of the Band of the Fighting Irish, serving as the baritone section leader his senior year. Buell also earned two monograms through the fencing team.
While originally born in Berkeley, Calif., Buell moved to Stilwell, Kan. when he was four years old and later to Waterford, Wisc. at age 12. Outside the office, he enjoys cheering on Kansas City sports teams, especially the Chiefs. He resides in South Bend.
