AS A SENIOR: Swam primarily in the butterfly and individual medley events for the Irish … competed individually in the BIG EAST Championships, swimming the 100 fly (57.31), 200 fly (2:03.94), and 200 IM (2:04.31) … swam to a personal best time in the 100 fly (57.26) at the Ohio State Invitational … recorded a season-best time in the 200 free (1:55.13) in the same meet … stopped the clock at 2:27.51 in the 200 breast against Auburn … placed fourth against Michigan State in the 200 fly … posted a season-best time in the 100 breast (1:09.53) against Pittsburgh … was a 2011-12 Rosenthal Leadership Academy participant … earned a Monogram.
AS A JUNIOR: Specialized in the fly and individual medley … turned in best 200 IM (2:05.03), 400 IM (4:27.54) and 200 fly (2:05.66) times at the BIG EAST Championships … competed in the finals of the 200 and 400 IM at the BIG EAST Championships … earned a Monogram.
AS A SOPHOMORE: Swam to three season-best times at the BIG EAST Championships … performances included swims in the final session of the 400 IM (10th – 4:22.87) and 100 fly (10th-2:02.50) and a preliminary session time of 2:02.88 in the 200 IM for eighth place … set additional season-best times at the Shamrock Invitational, touching the pad in a time of 58.31 in the 100 fly and 1:07.73 in the 100 breast … top 200 back time came at the Hoosierland Invitational with a finals time of 2:09.29, matching her preliminary time … collected one top three finish on the dual meet season with a third place finish in the 200 IM against Purdue … earned a Monogram.
AS A FRESHMAN: Versatile swimmer who competed in nine different events throughout the season … closed out her first campaign with the Irish by advancing to the finals in the 200 IM (2:01.25), 400 IM (4:18.95) and 200 fly (2:01.51) at the BIG EAST Championships … went 2:01.49 in the finals of the 200 IM for a third-place finish … placed fifth in the 400 IM after a 4:19.63 in the finals while recording the program[apos]s fifth- fastest time in the event … improved her 400 IM performance by more than 15 seconds over the course of the season … won the team[apos]s Beeler-Hipp award … earned a Monogram.
THE BARTON FILE: Earned All-America honors in each of her four years as a high school student … four-time state champion, regional champion and all-city performer … part of the 2005 Junior National Champion squad that set the national record in the 200 free relay … nine-time Junior National Qualifier and was Arizona[apos]s high school state champion in the 100 breast, 200 IM, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay … holds the Arizona high school record in the 400 free relay … attended high school at Desert Mountain (Ariz.) where she was the program[apos]s record holder in the 100 breast and 200 IM … team captain as a senior … three-time team MVP … member of the National Honor Society … each of her two older sisters – Ann (`07) and Kelli (`05) – swam at Notre Dame … born in Phoenix, Ariz. … daughter of Kari and Fred Barton … graduated in the spring of 2012 from the College of Arts and Letters with an English degree and supplementary major in Spanish.
