AS A JUNIOR: Had a career year for the Irish in `05-’06 … played in 35 games with 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points, all career highs … scored 10 power-play goals, one short-handed and one game winner for the year … led the Irish with 86 shots on goal and a .198 shooting percentage … picked up 14 penalties for 28 minutes … was +3 on the season … ranked second on the team in points and first in goals … was eighth among CCHA goal scorers and tied for second with power-play goals …collected seven multiple-point games and two multiple-goal games on the year … after being shutout in the season opener at Colorado College, collected a goal and an assist in 6-3 loss at Denver … followed with a goal in the home opener versus Princeton on Oct. 29 … held to one assist in the series with Michigan … recorded first career hat trick in 9-4 win over Bowling Green on Nov. 10, scoring a pair of power-play goals and one short-handed marker … capped the four-goal weekend with a single goal (ppg) in 4-2 win over the Falcons on Nov. 11 … ran scoring streak to three games (5g, 1a) with a goal (ppg) and an assist in 2-2 tie at Miami on Nov. 18 … held off the scoresheet for three straight games before scoring career-best eighth goal of the season at Western Michigan in 4-3 loss … put together a four-game point streak (3g, 1a) from Dec. 2 to Dec. 10 in two games against the Broncos and two with Minnesota State … streak was snapped in 4-0 shutout by Lake Superior on Dec. 17 … got the second half of the season off to a good start with a goal (game winner) and two assists in 4-1 win at Nebraska-Omaha on Jan. 6 and added an assist in game two with the Mavericks, a 2-2 tie … that started another four-game point streak (2g, 4a) with one power-play goal and added an assist in a pair of games at Miami (Jan. 13-14) … picked up two assists in 4-3, come-from-behind win at Northern Michigan on Jan. 21 … assisted on Mike Walsh’s game winner in 1-0 win at Ohio State on Jan. 28 … had a power-play goal in 3-2 home loss to Michigan State … had a goal (ppg) and an assist in big 3-2 win at Ferris State … first-period power-play goal gave Irish a 2-0 lead … set up Mark Van Guilder’s game winner with seven seconds left in the second stanza … had another big weekend series versus Bowling Green … scored two goals (one ppg) with one assist in 7-4 road win … scored lone goal in 1-1 tie the following night … three-goal, one-assist weekend earned him CCHA offensive player-of-the-week honors … finished the year with seven goals and one assist for eight points in four games against the Falcons … was held off the scoresheet in the final four games of the year, including two CCHA playoff games.
AS A SOPHOMORE: Played in 35 of Notre Dame’s 38 games … scored six goals with four assists for 10 points … had three power-play goals on the season … tied for fifth on the team with 69 shots on goal … had six penalties for 12 minutes … got the season off to a fast start scoring the first goal of the year for the Irish just 7:05 into the first period of the season opener, a 2-2 tie versus Minnesota-Duluth … second goal of the season came in the third game of the year, a second-period power-play goal at Miami to tie the game at 2-2 in an eventual 4-2 loss … held off the scoresheet for eight games before recording points in back-to-back games at Alaska Fairbanks on Nov. 26-27 … assisted on a Tony Gill goal in 3-2 win versus the Nanooks in game one of weekend series … followed with a goal with the goaltender pulled in the final minute of a 3-2 loss to UAF the following night … turned in a career-best four-game point streak from Dec. 10-Jan. 2 versus Michigan State and Rensselaer … teamed with Cory McLean to set up Wes O’Neill’s game-tying, power-play goal with 1:19 left in the game on Dec. 10 … Matt Amado would score game winner in overtime for 3-2 Irish victory … scored Notre Dame’s lone goal just 42 seconds into the game on the power play for his fourth of the year in a 4-1 loss at Michigan State the following night … made it two games in a row with a goal when he scored the lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Rensselaer on Jan. 1 … helped set up Tim Wallace’s game winner the following night at 9:09 of the third period in 2-1 win over the Engineers … would score just two more points over the remaining 16 games … had sixth goal of the year in 3-1 loss to Ohio State on Jan. 15 and assisted on a Noah Babin power-play tally on Feb. 12 in 4-2 loss to Ferris State.
AS A FRESHMAN: Saw action in 38 of Notre Dame’s 39 games in 2003-04 … was second among freshmen in scoring with seven goals and seven assists for 14 points … had two power-play goals and one game winner … penalized 10 times for 20 minutes … fired 49 shots on goal for a .143 shooting percentage… was -1 on the season … scored first collegiate goal on Oct. 18 at Bowling Green … goal at 2:37 of the first period gave the Irish a 2-0 lead on the way to a 3-0 shutout of the Falcons … picked up assists versus Lake Superior and Northern Michigan before finding the back of the net on Dec. 5 at Western Michigan … third-period goal cut Western lead to 7-5 in eventual 8-6 loss for the Irish … picked up first multiple-point game (1g, 1a) in 5-4 overtime loss at Bowling Green on Jan. 9 … second-period goal gave Irish a 2-0 lead … later helped set up Jason Paige goal that gave Notre Dame a 4-3 lead … made it two goals in a row the following night as his goal in the first period gave the Irish a 2-0 lead in David Brown’s second 3-0 shutout of Bowling Green … picked up just one assist over next six games before scoring his first career power-play goal in a 5-2 loss at Miami (Feb. 6) … scored the insurance goal in a 4-2 win over Ferris State on Feb. 13 … goal was part of a three-game point-scoring streak (1g, 2a) between Feb. 13-Feb. 27 … final goal of the season came in game one of the first round of the CCHA playoffs on Mar. 12 versus Western Michigan … unassisted, power-play goal at 1:13 of the third period proved to be the game winner … goal was his only point in five postseason games.
WITH USA HOCKEY: Spent two seasons in the United States National Team Developmental Program … with the Under-18 team in 2002-03 was fourth in scoring with 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points … had four power-play goals and four game winners while also picking up 22 minutes in penalties … played in the Top Prospects tournament … with the Under-17 team in 2001-02, helped Team USA win the gold medal at the Under-17 World Challenge … scored the game-winning goal in the semifinal victory over Team Ontario, beating current Irish goaltender David Brown … for the season, had 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points … among his goals were seven power-play markers, a short-handed goal and four game winners.
PREP & PERSONAL: Graduated from Ann Arbor Huron High School while playing for the U.S. Developmental Program … moved through the ranks of Michigan hockey, playing for HoneyBaked `85 AAA team and the Compuware Ambassadors junior program … has played on two state championship teams, three league championship squads and two world championship teams during his career … full name is Joshua James Sciba … son of Darryl and Sharon Sciba … has one brother … born on Feb. 6, 1985, in Dearborn, Mich. … has a double major in sociology and computer applications in the College of Arts and Letters.
