• The anchor of the midfield, Matriano started in all 22 games
• She logged the most minutes of any Irish at 1,846 and was one of the primary reasons the Irish made a run to the NCAA Quarterfinal round
• She recorded three points behind one goal and one assist
• Lone goal came in the 4-0 win over TCU on Aug. 25 via a PK
• Lone assist arrived in the 1-1 tie against NC State
• Irish outscored its opposition 55-20 thanks to Matriano’s leadership at defensive mid
• Boasted over an 80 percent passing completion rate
• Tallied 27 shots with eight on frame

AS A SOPHOMORE (2023)

• Played in 16 games with 14 starts, logging 1,016 minutes on the pitch
• Totaled 10 shots with 3 on net
• Irish were 10-3-3 in games Matriano played

As a Freshman (2022):

• ACC All-Academic Team
• Played in 22 games and started in 19. Logged over 1359 minutes on the pitch
• Was 1-of-2 ND freshmen who had a starting role for a majority of the season – getting the nod in the center midfield
• Scored her first collegiate goal in the NCAA Tournament, in the 2nd round versus top-25 ranked Santa Clara.
• Recorded 16 shots on the year, including four shots on frame.
• Start of 2023 – was invited to the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team Combined U-18/U-19 Training Camp in Carson, California.

“I believe Laney is one of the best connecting players in the country. She is a very technical midfielder that always seems to be calm and composed no matter what the situation. She makes the game look very easy. She also has a fantastic defensive presence. We are very excited to have Laney and believe she will instantly make our team better.”
