Bio

AS A SENIOR (2024-25)

  • Appeared in all but one game as a senior. 
  • Recorded 39 blocks on the season.
  • Finished the season with seven points off one goal and six assists.
  • Scored the shootout winner against Penn State in the eighth round of the shootout at Wrigley Field to clinch the extra conference point as part of the Frozen Confines (Jan. 3).
  • Recorded a career-high point streak of three games (Oct. 26 – Nov. 2; 1-2-3).
  • Scored his lone goal of the season, and first since 2022-23, against Wisconsin (Nov. 2) to extend his career-long point streak.
  • His six assists doubled his previous best of three set as a sophomore in 2022-23.

AS A JUNIOR (2023-2024)

  • Skated in nine games for the Irish in his junior season.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2022-23)

  • Appeared in 31 games for the Irish
  • Scored first collegiate goal against Northern Michigan (Oct. 14)
  • Set a career long two game point streak Oct. 8-14 (1-1-2)
  • Tallied assists at Air Force, Michigan State and Michigan

AS A FRESHMAN (2021-22)

  • Made his collegiate debut in Notre Dame’s home opener against Long Island (Oct. 9).
  • Earned first point of the season as an assist in a 4-2 road win at Michigan State (Feb. 19).

IN THE BCHL

  • Played the past three seasons in the BCHL, including the 2020-21 season with the Trail Smoke Eaters and the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons with the Langley Rivermen.
  • Finished his career with 10 goals and 36 assists in 113 games. 
  • Skated in 18 games in 2020-21 and scored three goals while adding eight assists for 11 points go along with 30 penalty minutes in the COVID-19 pandemic-shortened season.
  • Named the Top Defenseman in the Penticton Pod following the abbreviated season after his 11 points led his team’s defensemen in scoring. 
  • Had 23 points on seven goals and 16 assists in 48 games during his second BCHL season with Langley.
  • Helliwell added three goals in four playoff games for Langley in 2019-20. 

WITH CANADA HOCKEY

  • Played for the Canada Black team at the 2018-19 U-17 World Hockey Challenge, skating in five games.

PREP & PERSONAL

  • Skated for the Burnaby Winter Club from 2015-18 before joining Langley.
