  • Capped her career with a fourth NCAA Championships appearance and third All-America citation
  • Fought through injury to finish 11th nationally and earn Third Team All-America honors
  • Went 29-22 on the season to bring her career record to 139-69
  • Opened the season with a 10th-place finish at the Penn State Garret Open
  • Went 6-3 at the Elite Invitational
  • Competed only during team play at the ACC Championships, helping the Irish to the title with a 7-2 mark
  • Named to the All-ACC Academic Team
  • Earned the team’s Janusz Bednarski Award for leadership in women’s sabre.

AS A JUNIOR:

  • Earned Second Team All-America honors after a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships

  • Tied for ninth all-time in single-season women’s sabre wins in program history

  • Went 18-5 at the Northwestern Duals
  • Wrapped the regular season with a 13-2 mark at the Duke Duals, after which she was named ACC Female Fencer of the Week

PREP AND PERSONAL:

  • Graduated from Aloha in June 2015 as both an honors student and salutatorian
  • Began fencing at the age of 10 at Oregon Fencing Alliance
  • Coached by U.S. women’s Olympic sabre coach Ed Korfanty
  • Ranked in top five nationally at cadet level in 2013-14
  • Youngest of five siblings
  • Eldest sister Maria played basketball at Gonzaga
  • Older siblings Eileen (class of ’11) and Kevin (class of ’14) both fenced at Notre Dame, earning All-American accolades during their careers
  • Biggest athletic thrill to date is placing second at Junior Olympics in the junior division in 2013 and finishing sixth at the Cadet World Cup in Konin, Poland, the same year
  • Hails from same area of Oregon as three-time Olympian and 2012 Opening Ceremonies U.S. flag bearer Mariel Zagunis
  • Parents are Kevin Sr. and Ann Hassett
  • Enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business
