AS A SENIOR (2014): Served as a team captain … played in all 18 games as a short-stick defensive midfielder … posted career-high marks in goals (3) and assists (3) … picked up a career-best 23 ground balls … notched an assist against Penn State … scored a goal during Notre Dame’s 5-0 run in the 11-10 come-from-behind victory at North Carolina in the ACC opener … put the Irish up 8-2 with a goal in the 18-9 besting of Virginia … netted a goal in the regular-season meeting with Maryland … assisted on a score in the 18-17 victory over Army … scooped up a career-high four ground balls in the 14-13 overtime win over Albany in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship … earned his second monogram.
AS A JUNIOR (2013): Appeared in seven games and scored one goal … the goal came in the 17-5 win over Marquette … a BIG EAST Academic All-Star. AS A SOPHOMORE (2012): Played in 12 games and tallied one goal and two assists … became the program’s first recipient of the NCAA’s Elite 89 Award, which goes to the player with the top GPA on a team that reached the national semifinals … was on Notre Dame’s third midfield line … did not play in the first four games of the season … made his season debut in a 10-9 triple-overtime victory over Denver … attempted a career-high four shots against the Pioneers … scored his first career goal in an 8-7 win at Ohio State … the goal against the Buckeyes put the Irish up 7-4 early in the fourth quarter … assisted on Notre Dame’s final goal in an 8-6 victory over Syracuse that clinched the BIG EAST regular-season title for the Irish … that was his first career assist … also assisted on a goal in an 8-7 setback to St. John’s in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship … earned his second monogram.
AS A FRESHMAN (2011): Played in eight contests during his rookie campaign and earned a monogram … made his collegiate debut in an 11-7 win over Drexel.
PREP AND PERSONAL: Earned a total of eight varsity letters in lacrosse, basketball and volleyball at East Hampton High School … received four varsity letters in lacrosse … concluded his high school career with 176 points on 71 goals and 105 assists … tallied 72 points as a senior … selected all Suffolk County as a junior and senior and earned Academic All-America status as a senior … team captain as junior and senior … selected to the 20-man roster to represent Suffolk County in the Lacrosse Rising Senior Showcase … named by Newsday as one of top 75 lacrosse players on Long Island in 2010 … earned two varsity letters as a two year starter at guard in basketball … copped all-division recognition as a senior in basketball as he led the team in points, assists, blocked shots and steals … basketball team advanced to New York state quarterfinals during his junior season … basketball team captain as senior … earned two varsity letters as a two-year starter in volleyball … captained the volleyball team during his senior campaign … an all-county volleyball player as a junior and senior … set East Hampton record with 42 kills in a match against Sachem East during his senior season … received the Paul Yuska Award as the top male athlete at East Hampton High School … older brother, Zach, played for the Irish from 2008-11 and was an All-American … son of Timothy and Deborah Brenneman … graduated from the College of Arts and Letters in May of 2014 with a degree in economics and political science … finished with a 3.795 cumulative GPA.
