SENIOR SEASON (2022)

• Made 13 appearances and 3 starts on the season.
• Finished the year with a 4.18 ERA, 2-1 record with one save through 23.2 innings pitched with 24 strikeouts.
• Tossed a season-best 3.2 innings pitched and did not allow a run against #5 Texas A&M at the College World Series. (6/21/22)
• Had a season best 4 strikeouts in appearances against #5 Texas A&M in the College World Series and on the road against #5 Florida State back in April.
• Did not allow a run over his final six appearances of the season, a span that stretched 11.0 innings.
• Six of his 10 appearances out of the bullpen lasted longer than 1.0 inning.

JUNIOR SEASON (2021)

• Made 18 appearances and 11 starts on the season.
• Finished the year with a 4-3 record with a 4.92 ERA and 2 saves over 56.2 innings pitched with 44 strikeouts.
• Was tied for second in appearances and second in starts while finishing third on the squad in strikeouts.
• Was one of seven Irish pitchers to record a save and was one of 11 pitchers to start a game this season.
• Set a career high with 7.0 innings pitched in the win over UConn (6/5).
• Tied a career high with 5.0 innings pitched against Virginia Tech (5/26).
• Tied a career high with 5.0 innings pitched against No. 13 Florida State (5/7).
• Tied a career high with 5.0 innings pitched against NC State (4/16).
• Tied a career high with five strikeouts in the win over Valpo (3/23).
• Earned his first career save against Clemson (3/6).
• Currently playing summer ball with the Harrisonburg Turks in the Valley Baseball League.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2020)*

• Made four starts during the abbreviated season.
• Finished the year with a 5.93 ERA with a 1-0 record through 13.2 innings pitched.
• Made his first career start in the 9-2 win over UAB to clinch the series.
• Earned his first collegiate win in the 9-0 victory over Presbyterian after five innings of scoreless work with a career-high five strikeouts.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2019)

• Missed the entire season due to injury.

PERSONAL

• Graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in May of 2018 and intends to major in finance.
• As a senior, owned a 2.12 ERA with 1.3 strikeouts per inning. Batted .309 with a .442 on-base percentage. Was named to the 2018 All-District Team and the 2018 Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.
• Graduated magna cum laude and made the honor roll three times. Was the president of Athletes Taking Action and was a member of the Strake Jesuit Business Club.
• Attended the same high school as former Irish basketball player Joey Brooks.
• William Byers Mercer is the son of Mike and Betsy Mercer. Has one brother, Jack.
