The University of Notre Dame women’s rowing team earned four of five victories in a one-on-one competition against Louisville at the Indianapolis Rowing Center on Saturday, March 27, 2021.
“We had some things that we have worked on since Oak Ridge (the team’s first regatta held two weeks ago) that showed up in our effort today,” Irish head coach Martin Stone said after the racing wrapped up.
“We improved our approach and how we handled the racing pieces. Overall, it was a good day for us to build off of.”
It was the second competition of the 2021 season for the Irish (who were receiving votes in the latest Pocock CRCA Top 25), who are gearing up to take on some of the top teams in the nation at the Big Ten Invitational in mid-April.
In all, the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Four and Third Varsity Four all earned victories over Louisville on a warm and sunny afternoon in Indianapolis. The boats faced choppy conditions, with a five mph headwind throughout the day of racing.
