Midwest Regional Singles Final
UBRANA, Ill. – University of Notre Dame women’s tennis junior Britney Sanders (Ontario, Calif.) saw her impressive run end Tuesday in the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Singles Championship match at the Atkins Tennis Center.
Sanders, the No. 98 player in the fall ITA rankings, fell behind 12th-ranked Kate Turvy of Northwestern 6-4 after the first set, but rallied with an impressive 6-0 win in the second set. Turvy took a 4-3 lead in the third and deciding frame and did not relent, winning the singles title 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 to hand Sanders her first singles loss of the fall season (7-1).
Sanders is still eligible for an at-large bid to the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships Nov. 8-11 at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
