GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the first time in program history, Notre Dame Men’s Tennis has the ACC Player of the Year. On Thursday, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced junior Sebastian Dominko as the 2024-25 ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year. The junior also earned First Team All-ACC Singles honors and Second Team All-ACC Doubles accolades alongside sophomore Chase Thompson.
It’s the third straight season Dominko has earned All-ACC honors in both singles and doubles. He’s the fourth Irish men’s tennis player to earn All-ACC accolades in three different seasons.
Dominko was a force in the conference this year in both singles and doubles. He played in every match this season, including all 13 conference matches for the Irish. The Maribor, Slovenia native won his first eight ACC matches and was 10-2 against ACC competition at the top singles slot, all coming against ranked players. He finished the spring season 19-4 overall with 10 of those wins against ranked opponents. He was 27-8 overall in singles during his junior campaign including the fall season when he qualified for both the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships . He is ranked 20th in this week’s ITA singles rankings and earned First Team All-ACC Singles honors for a second consecutive season.
In doubles, Dominko was 20-5 in the spring playing alongside six different teammates throughout the season. When paired with Thompson, the duo was 7-4 in the spring with three of those wins coming against ranked opponents, including a 6-3 victory over 9th ranked Alex Bulte/Youcef Rihane of Florida State on April 3rd. The pairing of Dominko and Thompson earned Second Team All-ACC Doubles honors and was ranked 26th in this week’s ITA doubles rankings.
