Seven Irish Tabbed to All-ACC Academic Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. For the second-consecutive season, the Notre Dame women’s tennis team put seven individuals on the All-ACC Academic Team. It’s tied for the second-most since joining the conference in the 2013-14 season and just one off the program record of eight set in 2023.

Carrie Beckman, Nibi Ghosh and Bojana Pozder all earned their third career All-ACC Academic honoree while it’s the second time Akari Matsuno has earned the honor. It’s the first time Rylie Hanford, Bianca Molnar and Maria Olvia Castedo achieved the academic accolade.

A trio of seniors headline the list for the Irish, as Beckman, Ghosh and Castedo wrap up their careers with one final accolade. Beckman posted a 12-11 record in doubles, the majority of those coming from the top singles slot. Ghosh, who recently was named the national winner for the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, was an impressive 21-5 in singles this year as well as 19-11 in doubles. She was 12-1 during the spring season alone, the fourth-best winning percentage in Irish history, including a perfect 7-0 slate against conference opponents. Castedo had four singles wins and played a significant role during the postseason run to end the year. Beckman graduated with a degree in Finance and Ghosh earned a Economics degree while Castedo graduated with a Business Analytics degree.

Three juniors – Hanford, Matsuno and Pozder – also shined on and off the court. Hanford led the team this spring with 18 wins on the singles courts, 10 of them coming from five singles. Matsuno was consistently ranked in the ITA singles rankings throughout the season and finished 73rd in the final poll of the season after a 13-6 record over 2025. Pozder was great for the Irish as well, going 15-5 in singles across four different court assignments and 13-8 in doubles. Hanford and Pozder are Strategic Management majors while Matsuno is a Design major.

The lone freshman for Notre Dame was Bianca Molnar. A Film, Television, Theatre major, Molnar was impressive in her rookie season. She went 12-8 over the spring, including a 6-0 slate at No. 4 singles. She was also 15-6 in doubles over the spring season, the most doubles wins on the team.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
