PISCATWAY, N.J. – Rain and soggy field conditions have caused another delay in the Notre Dame-Rutgers baseball series at RU’s Class of ’53 Complex, as the teams will not play on Sunday and now hope to salvage two games on Monday in a doubleheader starting at 11:00 a.m. EDT (10:00 in South Bend).
Per BIG EAST policy, the length of Monday’s doubleheader will be limited due to Notre Dame’s travel schedule – as no inning will begin after 4:30.
Junior lefthander Tom Thornton and sophomore righthander Jeff Samardzija are the probable starting pitchers for the Irish while RU also has shifted its rotation and now is expected to counter with junior righthander OJ DeChristofano in game-1 and senior righthander Aaron Kalb in the second game.
