The University of Notre Dame softball team won its 15th game of the season on Saturday at the Florida State Invitational, defeating Maryland (9-9) 6-2 behind 11 team hits and another strong start from sophomore Heather Booth. The Irish are now 15-8 on the season and 3-1 in the FSU Invite.
Notre Dame scored three runs in the third inning on a three-run homer by sophomore Meagan Ruthrauff. The Irish added another run in the fifth and two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Maryland notched both its runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Booth allowed just four hits in the game to grab her eighth victory of the season.
Freshman Stephanie Brown was two for four with two runs scored in the game to begin the list of offensive stars in the game for Notre Dame. Junior Megan Ciolli posted her second four-hit game of the year, going four for four at the plate with three runs scored. Ruthrauff ended up one for two with three RBI, while junior Liz Hartmann was two for four with Notre Dame’s other three RBI.
The Irish move on in the FSU Invitational to face Texas A&M at 7:00 p.m.
