The University of Notre Dame softball team won its 13th game of the season and first at the Florida State Invitational on Friday evening, defeating Troy State 3-1. The Irish recover from a 3-0 loss to Michigan to begin the tournament and will turn around to face Georgia State and Maryland as action continues on Saturday, March 13.
Notre Dame was led on offense by three stars of the game. Freshman Stephanie Brown was three for four in the contest with her team leading fourth home run of the season. Sophomore Megan Ruthrauff posted a two for three performance with two RBI, while freshman Carissa Jaquish enjoyed her first three-hit game at Notre Dame, going three for three with two singles and a double.
Sophomore Heather Booth pitched well, getting her seventh victory of the season. She struck out 12 batters, matching a career-best she posted against Florida State on Thursday evening. She gave up three hits in the game as well.
