AT NOTRE DAME: Two-time monogram winner that entered his senior season with a 7.22 career ERA and 2-2 record, plus 23 strikeouts, 27 walks and 50 hits allowed (.309 opponent batting average) in 16 appearances (eight starts) and 38.2 innings … will miss 2013 season due to injury … carried a 3.915 cumulative GPA into the `13 spring semester following a perfect 4.000 GPA in the `11 and `12 fall semesters.

JUNIOR SEASON (2012): Made nine appearances, including six starts … went 2-0 with a 5.60 ERA … allowed 34 hits in 27.1 innings of work as opposing batters hit .306 … struck out 16 and walked 12 … Notre Dame posted a 5-1 record when Veerkamp started and 5-4 mark when he pitched … roughed up with four runs, three earned, on three hits in 1.0 inning of work against Purdue on Feb. 19 … tossed a scoreless inning of relief at Texas State on Mar. 2 … picked up first career victory with 6.0 shutout innings against UTSA on Mar. 14 … limited the Road Runners to four hits and fanned four … collected his second victory of the season with 5.0 solid innings against IPFW on Mar. 21 … struck out four, walked two and yielded five hits … did not factor in the decision in starts against UIC (Mar. 27), Toledo (Apr. 3) and Butler (May 1) … UIC plated four runs on four hits in 2.0 innings, while Toledo recorded four runs, three earned, on four hits in 4.2 innings … Butler tagged him for five runs, four earned, on six hits … limited Northwestern to a pair of earned runs on five hits in 3.0 innings of work (May 15).

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2011): Made four appearances – all out of the Irish bullpen … went 0-0 with a 14.54 ERA … allowed eight hits in 4.1 innings of work as opposed batted .348 … struck out four and walked 10 … Notre Dame posted an 1-3 record when Veerkamp pitched … tossed a scoreless inning of relief in the 5-0 victory over Seattle on Feb. 25 … roughed up for four earned runs on two hits and five walks in 0.2 innings of work against Iowa on Mar. 18 … struck out three, walked two and yielded two earned runs on three hits in season-high 2.0 innings against Michigan State on May 17 … yielded two hits, two walks and five runs, only one earned, in 0.2 innings against Louisville on May 19.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2010): Made three appearances and one start … went 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA … allowed eight hits in 7.0 innings of work as opponents batted .286 … struck out three and walked five … Notre Dame posted an 0-3 record when Veerkamp pitched … struggled over his first two career appearances, both starts, against UTPA (2.2 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K) and UIC (2.1 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K), but rebounded with 2.0 hitless and scoreless innings of relief versus Michigan on Apr. 21.
