Career Summary

A storied career, that includes an ACC-record 134 touchdown passes, which also ranks in the top 20 in FBS history…Additionally he has thrown for the second-most yards in ACC history and his 15,656 career passing yards ranks in the top 20 in FBS history…Holds the Wake Forest program record in career completions, attempts, total touchdowns and total yards while ranking in the top three in ACC history in each category and ranks in the top-25 nationally in total touchdowns and total yards…Hartman tossed for 21 career 300-yard passing games, marking the most in ACC history and he also holds single-season records in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completions, attempts, yards per game, total yards and total touchdowns…Ended his Wake Forest career with 34 consecutive games with a touchdown responsible for which was the active career record and dated back to his 2020 campaign and was the active career leader in total touchdowns and touchdown passes…His historic six passing touchdowns against Clemson tied the most in a single game in ACC history…Only Wake Forest quarterback with three or more four-plus touchdown games in his career and he has done so on nine occasions and the only Wake Forest quarterback to have five or more passing touchdowns in multiple games doing so four times in his career…In 2021, he became just the third ACC quarterback in history to account for 50 total touchdowns in a single season…In 2020, held a streak of 258 passes without throwing an interception dating back to the 2019 season, a Wake Forest program record and the fifth longest in ACC history…Became the first Wake Forest true freshman quarterback to win a season-opener against Tulane in 2018….Ranked second in program history in quarterback wins with 27 in his career, trailing just Riley Skinner who finished his career with 31.

• TENNESSEE STATE (9/2): Racked up 194 yards passing, going 14-for-17 and two scores, playing just the first half in the 56-3 victory … Ran four times, gaining 14 yards and scoring his first rushing touchdown as a member of the Irish … Began the contest 7-for-7 for 91 yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown … Improved his FBS-leading streak of games responsible for at least one touchdown to 36 … Took over with 53 seconds remaining in the first half, leading a 0:38 scoring drive to end the half, hitting Holden Staes for a touchdown with 15 seconds remaining
• at NORTH CAROLINA STATE (9/9): Finished the win 15-for-24 for 286 yards and four touchdowns … Brings his career total to 13,698 passing yards, moving into 11th all-time in the Football Bowl Subdivision … Career total of 120 passing touchdowns, 10th all-time in FBS history … Had a key scramble for a first down in the first quarter that ignited the first scoring drive of the day
• CENTRAL MICHIGAN (9/16): Threw for 330 yards and three scores in the win … Finished with 16 completions on 26 attempts … One of two FBS quarterbacks with two 75-yard-or-more touchdown passes in a single game at this point in the 2023 season, and the only one to do it against and FBS opponent … Career total of 14,028 passing yards, becoming the first FBS quarterback to reach the 14,000-yard plateau since Baker Mayfield in 2017 … Tied for with Landry Jones for seventh all-time in FBS history with 123 passing touchdowns … Recorded his 22nd career 300-yard passing game and first as a member of the Irish … 66th 300-yard passing game in Notre Dame history

• at DUKE (9/30): Led the game-winning drive in the final 2:35 … Converted a fourth and 16 on the final drive of the game, scrambling for 17 yards for the first down … Finished 15-for-30 for 222 yards … Ran for 23 yards … Extended his streak of passing attempts without an interception to 145, which is the best streak to start a season in Notre Dame history and the fourth-best overall in program history
• at LOUISVILLE (10/7): Completed 22 passes on 38 attempts … Threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns … Ran 10 times, gaining 27 yards
• USC (10/14): Finished 13-for-29 passing for 126 yards … Hit nine different receivers in the win … Connected with Chris Tyree for a game-long 46 yard touchdown pass … Hit Gi’bran Payne from four yards out for the first score of the game, capitalizing on an interception by the Irish defense … Ran one time, gaining 12 yards
• PITTSBURGH (10/28): Finished 18-for-25 through the air … Totaled 288 yards … Led a passing attack that hit 12 different receivers throughout the game
• at CLEMSON (11/4): Finished with 13 completions, going for 146 passing yards … Ran a seven times, totaling 68 yards, both single game bests in his Notre Dame career … Scrambled for 38 yards, his longest run as a member of the Blue and Gold to this point … Scored a rushing touchdown on a 26-yard run in the third quarter
• WAKE FOREST (11/18): Threw for 277 yards on 21-of-29 attempts, for four touchdowns … Brings his career total to 132 passing touchdowns, moving past Baker Mayfield, Rakeem Cato and Colt Brennan into fourth on the FBS all-time list of career touchdowns … Found eight different receivers in the contest … Four touchdown passes went to four different players
• at STANFORD (11/25): Finished 8-for-14 for 134 passing yards and two touchdowns … Moved his career passing touchdowns total to 134, matching Graham Harrell for fourth all-time in the FBS … Finishes the regular season with a 159.5 passer rating, second best in single-season history at Notre Dame behind 161.4 set by Jimmy Clausen (2009) and Bob Williams (1949) … Finished with 47 rushing yards on four carries … Averaged 11.8 yards per carry

2022 Brian Piccolo Award Winner, given annually since 1970 in memory of the late Brian Piccolo to the “most courageous” football player in the ACC.
