AS A JUNIOR: Played in six tournaments, with four starts on the Irish travel team … posted 76.61 stroke average for 18 rounds, with nine of 12 competitive rounds applying to team total … opened season with tie for 63rd place at USF Olympic Club Intercollegiate following 18-over par 231 (75-79-77) … competed as individual at Saint Mary[apos]s (Calif.) (Elizabeth Manor G&CC) with three-under 277 (67-70-71-69) … earned berth in Southern Amateur after tying for second place in West Palm Beach (Mayacoo Lakes GC) qualifier at even-par 70 … tied for 24th at Southern Amateur in Orlando (Lake Nona G&CC) with three-under 285 (70-70-75-70) … earned exemption into main field at Western Amateur, but did not make 36-hole stroke play cut following nine-over par 149 (72-77) at Point O[apos] Woods Golf & Country Club in Benton Harbor, Mich.
AS A SOPHOMORE: Competed in seven tournaments, including four as part of Notre Dame[apos]s starting lineup … ranked fourth on team with career-low 74.90 stroke average for 20 rounds … got season started with 18th-place tie at Rutgers Invitational (‘B’ team event), where he shot nine-over par 222 (72-79-71) … joined starting lineup for first time at Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic, finishing 68th at 30-over par 240 (81-79-80) … played as an individual competitor in spring opener at John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, winding up tied for 38th place at 10-over par 226 (76-76-74) … matched career-best finish with 10th-place tie at Charleston Southern Spring Kickoff (‘B’ team event) after shooting career-low eight-over par 221 (73-72-76) … earned way back into starting lineup for Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational, where he tied for 44th place at six-over par 222 (76-73-73) … shared 48th place at National Invitational Tournament after shooting eight-over par 224 (76-74-74) … wrapped up season by tying career-best placement, finishing in 10th-place tie at Irish Invitational with three-over par 143 (68-75); opening-round 68 also was a career-low.
AS A FRESHMAN: Saw action in four tournaments (11 rounds), all during the fall, playing once with Irish travel squad … posted 75.45 stroke average that wound up being fourth-best on team … made college debut at John Dallio Memorial (‘B’ team event), tying for 21st place with six-over par 222 (79-71-72); also aced par-3 third hole (175 yards) in final round with 7-iron … one of two Irish freshmen (with Doug Fortner) to fire an ace in `06-07, sinking their holes-in-one in consecutive tournaments in September; feat earned pair a place in Oct. 30 issue of Sports Illustrated[apos]s ‘Faces in the Crowd’ while back-to-back aces by rookies in debut events believed to be first of its kind in NCAA Division I history … played as individual competitor at inaugural Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic, finishing in 11th-place tie at 12-over par 222 (72-76-74); sank ace for second time in as many events, holing tee shot on par-3 fourth hole (136 yards) during final round with 8-iron … returned to course at The Tillinghast (‘B’ team event) and rang up best finish of rookie season with 10th-place tie at nine-over par 150 (70-80); opening-round score also was season best … made debut with Irish travel squad in fall finale at Aloha Purdue Collegiate Invitational, finishing in 45th place (76-82-78=236, +26).
