AS A SENIOR:
- Went 15-6 in 2018-19, including an undefeated 5-0 record in the spring
- In doubles play, posted a 9-7 overall record, including a 4-0 finish at home
- With classmate Nathan Griffin, went 2-0 overall, registering wins over St. Bonaventure’s Patwardhan/Malmberg (6-4) and Toledo’s Carranza/Shoults (6-3)
AS A JUNIOR:
- Played exclusively in the fall for the Irish
- Notched a record of 6-11 in singles matches and went 3-8 in doubles matches
AS A SOPHOMORE:
- Went 11-6 in singles on the year, including 3-0 in duals
- Saw action against Monmouth, Detroit Mercy and IUPUI
- Also posted a 5-4 doubles record (1-0 dual record)
AS A FRESHMAN:
- Kicked off his career with Irish with a 15-6 singles record and 2-8 doubles record
- Went 3-1 against conference opponents, with wins over Boston College’s Kent Mukai (6-2, 6-4), Louisville’s Carlos Longhi Neto (6-2, 6-2) and Clemson’s Robert Dudley (5-7, 6-4, 6-0) during the spring
- Ended the season with victories against Chicago State’s Gonzalo Martinez (6-1, 6-2) and Gabriel Niculescu (6-4, 6-4) in a doubleheader April 3
- Earned a monogram
PREP AND PERSONAL:
- Graduated from Park Tudor High School in May 2015
- Four-year tennis letterwinner
- Two-time Indiana state singles champion as a junior and senior, with a combined 52-0 singles record
- Indiana state singles runner-up as a sophomore with a 31-3 record
- State doubles champion as a freshman, going 25-2 in doubles
- Three-time USTA Midwest Closed Championships doubles champion
- Winner of various USTA Midwest level singles and doubles tournaments
- Made the quarterfinals of both the hard and clay court national doubles championships with partner Sameer Kumar, who will play at Stanford (’19)
- Attended the same high school as current football player Brandon Tiassum (’19)
- From the same area as former Irish tennis player Dougie Barnard
- Son of Randy and Patty Rayl
- Has two older brothers, Brian Wylie and Matthew Rayl
- Mother was a cheerleader at Wright State University
- Brother Brian played basketball at Millikin University
- Brother Matthew competed in gymnastics at Ohio State University
