AS A JUNIOR:Completed the season in the top five of four events on the depth chart … had a total of three 10th-place finishes at BIG EAST Championships in the 500 Free (4:30.51), 100 Back (50.92) and 200 Back (1:50.48) … racked 21 points for the Irish en route to helping Notre Dame claim the team title … swam the 200 Free in 1:45.54 against Cleveland State … went 24.38 in the 50 Back at the Ohio State Invitational and 24.38 against Oakland … registered times of 51.41 and 51.77 in the 100 Back at the Ohio State Invitational … also checked in at 1:51.11 during the same meet.

AS A SOPHOMORE:Set Notre Dame[apos]s top marks of the season in the 50 Back, 100 Back, and 200 Back … each of his four personal-best times were registered during the BIG EAST Championships while swimming the 500 Free (4:28.17), 50 Back (23.42), 100 Back (49.51), and 200 Back (1:49.18) … claimed five individual wins and was part of eight Relay squads that took first-place honors in dual meet action throughout the season … was the fastest versus Texas A&M in the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Back … first over the field in meeting with Purdue in the 100 Back, 400 Medley Relay, and 400 Free Relay … posted a win against Michigan State in the 400 Medley Relay … 200 Back and 400 Free Relay champ in action against Louisville … bested the pack at Cleveland State in the 500 Free and 200 Medley Relay.

THE WOOD FILE:Arrived at Notre Dame following a year at Indiana University, where he was a versatile swimmer competing in the 100, 200 and 500 Free along with the 100 and 200 Back … carried the top 100 Back time (50.39) among Irish newcomers and he also owns a time of 1:50.93 in the 200 Back … an accomplished prep swimmer as he was a 16-time All-American … led Fairport (N.Y.) to three state and sectional championships … copped New York State Swimmer of the Year and Swimmer of the Meet accolades after racking up the 100 Back and 200 Free state titles his senior season … won state races in the 100 Back and a pair of relays … part of two relays that established state records his sophomore campaign … took second place in the 50 Back at the 2005 Junior National Championships in Orlando, Fla., while qualifying for the finals four times … secured spots at the U.S. Open and World Cup on the club circuit … full name is Jeffrey Daniel Wood … born Dec. 13, 1986, in Rochester, N.Y. … son of Theresa and James Wood … has two siblings, Jenna and Jimmy … Jimmy swam for St. Bonaventure … business marketing major in the Mendoza College of Business.
