AS A SENIOR: Notched three top eight finishes at the BIG EAST Championships in his final campaign with the Irish … top eight finishes included a silver in the 800 free relay (NCAA B-cut time of 6:29.10) and eighth-place finishes in the 200 free (1:39.77) and 500 free (4:28.98) … swam to an NCAA B-cut of 4:27.41 in the 500 free in the preliminary session of the meet … the 500 free performance was an NCAA B-cut time … set a personal-best mark of 1:47.42 in the 200 fly at the league meet, good for another NCAA B-cut time … that swim was the fastest of any Irish swimmer on the season and the eighth-fastest in Notre Dame history … concluded career with the third-fastest 200 butterfly, fourth-fastest 500 free and fourth-fastest 1,000 free times in school history … registered three BIG EAST titles over his four years, including one individual and two relays … swam a 9:50.09 in the 1,000 free against Pittsburgh for his top time of the season … touched the pad in 16:11.67 in the 1,500 at the Hawkeye Invite for another top time.

AS A JUNIOR:Began the BIG EAST Championships with a gold medal as he was a member of the victorious 800 free relay, which recorded an NCAA B-cut of 6:28.48 … recorded two additional NCAA B-cuts at the BIG EAST Championships (200 and 500 free) … touched the pad in fourth place in the 200 free (1:37.97), fifth place in the 500 free (4:26.66) and ninth in the 1,650 free (15:50.10) at the league meet … the 200 free, 1,650 free and the preliminary swim of the 500 free (4:26.24) were his top times on the season … the 200 free swim was a personal best … swam to a career best time in the 200 fly (1:53.31) at the Ohio State Invitational … collected two top three finishes on the dual meet season (one in the 1000 free and one in the 500 free) with both coming against Northwestern.

AS A SOPHOMORE:Started the BIG EAST Championships by teaming with the 800 free relay squad to set a league and school record in 6:27.19 … followed that with an NCAA B-cut performance and first-place finish in the 500 free (4:23.99) … six Notre Dame swimmers finished in the top eight positions in that race … sixth in the 200 free (1:38.22) and ninth overall in the 1,650 free (15:48.14) at the league meet … took a shot at the 100 free (47.74) in the season[apos]s final dual meet against Olivet … named team[apos]s most improved swimmer … went a career-best 1:37.85 in the 200 free at the Boiler-Make-It Invitational … named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All- Academic Honorable Mention.

AS A FRESHMAN:Finished the season with a good taper and strong showings … forceful at the BIG EAST Championships, posting exhibition performances that would have scored in the finals … had an extremely good performance in the 1,650 free (15:29.67) which was the third fastest time of the night … that swim was over 45 seconds faster than his next best mark of the season, a 16:16.07 result in a tri-meet with Purdue and Texas A&M … grabbed a 500 free finish in 4:30.16 and went 1:40.34 in the 200 free at the league meet … saw limited action in the 400 IM with a best performance at the Ohio State Invitational (4:08.46) … winner of Notre Dame[apos]s Beeler-Hipp Award.

The BRUS FILE: Distinguished as an All-American his sophomore through senior seasons in the 200 and 500 free events during his prep career at Davenport North (Iowa) … during that stretch, he claimed an Iowa state title in the 500 free (4:35.22) and finished second in the 200 free (1:41.67) … holds school records in several individual events (200 free, 500 free, 200 IM, 100 back and 100 fly) in addition to the 200 free relay … designated team captain his junior and senior year … named MVP all four years by head coach Guy Heller … competed and lettered all four years on the cross country team … competed in several state and USS Junior National meets … member of the National Honor Society, marching band and Key Club … son of Joan and Richard Brus … born April 28, 1989 … graduated from the College of Engineering as a mechanical engineer major.
