AS A SENIOR:Competed in numerous events his senior year, primarily free stroke events… finished fifth in 500 free against Purdue (4:40.64)… touched the wall 10th in 500 free against Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh (4:45.59)… at the Hawkeye Invitational, swam to 17th place in 1650 free (16:07.15)… finished ninth in 200 fly in a tri-meet with Michigan and Northwestern (1:58.24)… swam to seventh place as the fourth leg of the 400 free relay team (3:07.03).

AS A JUNIOR: Had successful season with the Irish, swimming 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 free in addition to 200 fly … at Hawkeye Invitational, placed seventh in 200 free (1:39.48) and came in third in 500 free (4:25.10) … against Louisville clocked a 4:37.76 in 500 free, good for sixth place … earned a pair of eighth-place finishes in 500 free in meets against Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech (4:39.82) and versus Purdue (4:43.70) … touched the wall third in 1,000 free (9:22.67) against Louisville … came in fifth on three occasions in 1,000 free … at Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships, touched the wall in 4:25.97 in 500 free before posting a 9:16.48 mark in 1,000 free race … closed conference championship with 1:50.85 time in 200 fly … swam a 15:23.96 1,650 free at ACC Championship meet … came in third in 1,650 race at Hawkeye Invitational (15:27.35) … earned a monogram.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Competed primarily in freestyle as well as butterfly events during the course of the season … recorded season-best 1,650 time (15:22.12) with a fourth-place finish at the BIG EAST Championships … garnered bronze with a season-best time of 4:23.71 in the 500 free in the same meet … at the Northwestern Invitational, took fifth place in the 1,650 free (16:01.21) … stayed consistent in the 1,650 free all season, which included a finish in second against Cleveland State with a time of 16:06.02… finished in third place in the 500 free (4:43.71) in the same meet … saw race action in dual meets against Louisville and Pittsburgh … earned a monogram.

AS A FRESHMAN: Distance swimmer who made an immediate impact, winning an individual BIG EAST Championship in his first year while also accumulating another all-BIG EAST accolade and achieving three NCAA B-cuts … won the 1,650 freestyle at the BIG EAST Championships, posting a season-best time of 15:16.77, which also earned him second place in the Notre Dame team record books … took second in the 500 freestyle, recording a readout of 4:24.28 which was good for an NCAA B-cut … placed eighth in the 200 butterfly with his best time of the season during prelims (1:48.00) … turned in a 1,000 freestyle split of 9:14.40 during the 1,650 at the BIG EAST Championships, which placed him second in team history for the event … came in third in the 1,650 in dual meet action against Michigan State … also competed in meets against Pittsburgh, Northwestern, Louisville, Purdue, and the quad meet against Michigan, Oakland, and TCU … represented the Irish at the 2012 US Olympic Trials, competing in the 400 meter free (4:07.75, 109th) and the 1,500 meter free (16:10.61, 78th) … earned a monogram.

PREP AND PERSONAL: Earned three varsity letters while swimming as a prep at Sonora (Calif.) … two-time All-American … three-time team captain … finished first at 2010 CIF meet in the 500 free (4:24.82) … placed first at the 2010 CIF Masters meet in the 200 free (1:40.12) … consolation finalist at 2010 Long Course Junior Nationals in the 400 free (3:58.28) and 1,500 free (15:47.84) … 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier … son of Patty and Todd Jacobsen … father swam at UC-San Diego … full name is Brennan Paul Jacobsen … oldest of three children … enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters, majoring in history.
