AS A SENIOR:Finished his career as a versatile swimmer, competing in a variety of events and distances throughout the season…contributed to first place win in 400 IM relay in the Dennis Stark relays against Olivet Nazarene (3:28.92) and a ninth place finish for the same event (3:38.74) against VA Tech and Pittsburgh, swimming the third leg for both… against Olivet Nazarene, placed third in 2×500 Free Relay (9:37.38)… placed sixth in 200 fly against Purdue (1:55.25)… swam to 11th in both 400 IM (4:10.11) and 200 fly (2:01.45) against VA Tech and Pittsburgh … touched the wall in fourth in 400 IM against Michigan State (4:10.63)… had a very versatile performance in the Hawkeye Invitational, finishing in 18th in 500 free finals (4:32.20), ninth in 400 IM finals (3:57.26), 18th in 1650 free (16:16.58) and 16th in 200 fly finals (1:57.76)… in the Shamrock invitational, finished 17th in 500 free (4:43.98)…14th in 400 IM (4:11.01)… sixth in 800 free relay (6:55.17)… and 12th in 200 Fly (1:57.25)… had a strong performance against Cleveland St., swimming to fourth in the 50 Free (21.52)… second in 500 Free (4:39.82)… third swimming the fourth leg in 200 Free Relay (1:25.59)… competed in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships where he touched the wall in 16th place in both the prelims and finals for 400 IM… also placed in 500 free and 1650 free… earned a monogram.

AS A JUNIOR: Strong competitor for the Irish, earning numerous top-10 finishes throughout the season in a myriad of events … set personal record in 500 free at Hawkeye Invitational, swimming a 4:25.13 in preliminary heat before placing seventh in final heat (4:30.51) … swam to sixth-place finish in 500 free (4:40.34) against Purdue … versus Wisconsin, touched the wall fifth in 500 free (4:43.50) … at Air Force, tried his hand at 1,000 free clocking in at 10:04.04, good for eighth place … came in seventh in 100 back (55.94) against Wisconsin … set personal best in 100 back against Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech (53.52), placing 10th … came in 17th at Hawkeye Invitational in 200 fly (1:52.51) … finished eighth against Louisville in 200 fly (1:56.83) … placed 10th in 200 fly (1:58.04) in tri-meet with Auburn and Indiana … finished fifth in 200 IM (1:53.96) in tri-meet with Northwestern and Michigan … placed eighth in 200 IM (2:00.23) against Louisville … touched the wall in 18th place in prelim heat of 400 IM at Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships (3:51.12) … went on to finish 24th overall in 400 IM (3:54.63) at ACC championship meet … also placed in 500 free and 200 fly at conference championship … earned a monogram.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Saw success in his sophomore season, touching the pad with a season-best 1:48.69 in the 200 back prelims at the BIG EAST Championships … also competed in the 400 IM and recorded a season-best third-place finish in 3:50.95, just one hundredth of a second off the Notre Dame school record … finished seventh in the 500 free (4:28.55) at the BIG EAST meet … at the Shamrock Invitational, earned a sixth-place finish in the 200 back (1:55.18) … runner-up in the 500 free (4:33.16) at the Shamrock Invitational … earned two top-five finishes against Pittsburgh, third place in the 200 back (1:53.08) and fifth place in the 200 IM (1:56.19) … earned a monogram.

AS A FRESHMAN: Versatile swimmer who contributed in a variety of strokes and distances … competed in three individual events at the BIG EAST Championships in his inaugural campaign with the Irish, compiling two top-eight finishes … took sixth place in the 200 backstroke (1:47.88) in a season-best time … touched in at eighth in the 400 individual medley and recorded his best time of the season during the preliminary heats (3:52.36) … best 200 IM swim (1:49.44) of the season came in prelims at the BIG EAST Championships … recorded his best 200 butterfly swim (1:53.52) of the year at the Hawkeye Invitational … came in third in the same event in the dual meet against Michigan State, touching in at 1:53.60 … saw other dual meet action against Pittsburgh, Louisville, Purdue, Northwestern, and the quad meet against Michigan, Oakland, and TCU … earned a monogram.

PREP AND PERSONAL: Two-time All-American in the 200 IM … New York State Public High School Champion in the 200 IM as a junior … named to the all-state team as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior in the 200 IM and 100 back … six-year varsity swimmer at Half Hollow Hills East (N.Y.) … hold school records in the 100 back and 200 IM … swam at the 2010 National Select Camp in Colorado Springs, Colo. … U.S. Nationals qualifier … two-time team captain and MVP … consistently ranked in the top 10 by USA Swimming in his respective age group … qualified for Senior Nationals … placed sixth at NCSA Junior Nationals in 400 IM … member of the National Honor Society … youngest of three children … son of Vicki and Marc DeBlasio … full name is Matthew Michael DeBlasio … graduated in May as a double major in management entrepreneurship and economics.
