Swimming and Diving Volunteer Assistant Women's Swimming Coach
Notre Dame faculty member Josh Skube enters his 15th season as a volunteer assistant coach for Notre Dame swimming and diving in 2014-15. Skube[apos]s previous service to the Irish programs includes five years with the women[apos]s team from 2000-05 and six seasons with the men[apos]s program from 2005-11 before returning to the women[apos]s team in the fall of 2011.
Also in his 15th year as a faculty member in the physical education department, Skube assists in all aspects of home practices and meets, while traveling with the Irish to away meets.
Just some of the accomplishments under Skube include 28 NCAA participants, eight All-Americans, 16 honorable mention All-Americans and the men[apos]s first BIG EAST Championship in 2004-05.
He also helped coach 1996 Olympian Jilen Siroky (United States) and recruit 2000 and 2004 Olympian Christel Bouvron (Singapore).
Skube swam collegiately for Ball State University from 1994-96 before earning a bachelor[apos]s degree in kinesiology (`98) and a master[apos]s degree in exercise physiology ([apos]00) from Indiana University.
He has also served as an assistant coach for Bloomington North High School (1999-2000) and the Duneland Swim Club (1995-97). Known for his deep technical knowledge of the sport, he also has been published in Swim Technique magazine.
A distance freestyle specialist, Skube hails from Chesterton, Ind., and swam for Chesterton High School, earning team MVP honors in leading the Trojans to Duneland Conference titles in his final two seasons.
Skube comes from a family with strong Notre Dame roots, as his father Thomas (`70), uncle Charles (`60) and cousins Mara (`86) and Steve (`90) are all graduates of the University. Born in Crown Point, Ind., Skube and his wife, Susan, live in South Bend with their daughters, Ivie, Addison and Waverly.
