AS A SENIOR (2015-16): Backstroker who had a consistently strong senior year for the Irish … started the year at the Dennis Stark Relays with a second place finish in the 400 medley relay (49.76 leadoff split) and first place in the 200 medley relay (23.58 leadoff) … swam against Michigan State, taking fourth in the 200 back (1:56.47) and 200 free relay (21.35), and first in the 400 medley relay (49.64 leadoff split) … swam against Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech, taking sixth in the 200 back (1:51.25), second in the 200 medley relay (23.81 leadoff split), third in the 400 medley relay (50.69 leadoff), and fourth in the 100 back (51.13) … made it to the finals at the Purdue Invitational in three individual events while also helping Notre Dame to second-place finishes in the 200 (22.85 leadoff split) and 400 (48.83 leadoff split) medley relays … individually, finished ninth in the 100 back (49.10 finals, 50.81 prelims), 25th in the 200 back (1:48.94 finals, 1:54.31 prelims) and 32nd in the 50 free (21.95 finals, 21.59 prelims) … won the 100 back (48.99) and the 400 medley relay (48.87 leadoff) at Virginia, while also taking third in the 200 back (1:48.62) and 200 and 400 free relays (20.88 200 split, 46.55 400 split)… won the 200 medley relay (23.05 leadoff) against Northwestern, also winning the 100 back (48.92), placing second in the 100 fly (50.09), and taking fifth in the 200 back (1:52.42) … at the ACC Championship posted career records in the 100 back (47.42) and the 200 back (1:44.62), taking 12th and 17th respectively … also swam the 100 fly in prelims and finished seventh with the 400 medley relay (47.66 leadoff) … finished career with a third-place finish in the 100 back at the Ohio State Last Chance Meet (47.76) … earned a monogram.

PREP AND PERSONAL: Six-time Turkish National medalist … 14th-place finish in the 50m back at the 2011 European Juniors in Belgrade, Serbia … ranked 15th in the 100m back at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Lima, Peru … swam with the Camden Swiss Cottage club team, reaching third in the national rankings in 2008 … four-time letterwinner in swimming at Woodhouse College in London … member of four conference and regional championship teams … served as team captain his senior year … lettered in soccer as a freshman and sophomore … club went undefeated in both seasons … son of Debbie Ayhan … has one older sibling, Metin … graduated from the Mendoza College of Business, with a degree in Information Technology Management and a minor in Studio Art.
