AS A JUNIOR (2015-16): Continued to be a strong performer in the pool and became a vocal leader on the pool deck … raced at ACC Championship and qualified to swim with relays at NCAAs, but had to sit out due to illness … at ACC, highest finish came with 400 free relay runner-up team, logging a 43.45 anchor split … also finished fifth in the 800 free relay (1:35.67 split), 12th in 200 free (1:36.65 finals, 1:35.99 prelims) and tied for 14th in 100 free (43.60 finals, 43.87 prelims) … clocked in at 1:47.46 in the 200 IM … began the year with two, first-place finishes at the Dennis Stark Relays, swimming with the 400 IM relay (51.81 split) and 400 free relay (45.57 split) … won 200 free race against Michigan State (1:41.17) and took third in the 200 free relay (21.05 split) and sixth in the 200 fly (1:56.34) … against Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh placed third with the 800 free relay (1:40.41) and earned three fourth-place marks in the 200 IM (1:53.36), 200 free (1:41.33) and 400 free relay (46.33 leadoff split) after touching in sixth in the 100 fly (50.71) and seventh in the 100 breast (58.41) … at Purdue Invitational, advanced to the finals in every event swam throughout the weekend … swam with the 200 free relay (10th, 20.70 leadoff split), 400 medley relay (16th, 45.15 split), 800 free relay (third, 1:40.17 split) and 400 free relay (ninth, 45.41 leadoff split) … individually, finished ninth in the 200 IM (1:49.35 finals, 1:51.29 prelims), 18th in the 400 IM (4:00.93 finals, 4:04.93 prelims), seventh in the 200 free (1:39.78 finals, 1:41.60 prelims) and 17th in the 200 fly (1:50.30 finals, 1:54.34 prelims) … at Virginia, earned a pair of first-place victories in the 200 free relay (20.54 split) and 400 free relay (45.76 split) and two fourth-place finishes in the 200 IM (1:52.87) and 100 free (46.92) … also came in second in 200 free (1:39.88) … against Northwestern, won with the 400 free relay (46.06 leadoff split), took second in the 200 medley relay (20.70 split) and third in the 200 free (1:40.49) … in Shamrock Invitational had two runner-up results in the 200 free relay (20.70 split) and 400 free relay (45.01 split) … swam to third place twice, in the 200 free (1:40.53) and 800 free relay (1:41.04 split) … earned 10th in the 200 IM (1:53.40), 11th in the 200 medley relay (22.48 split) and 100 free (45.83) and eighth in the 200 fly (1:53.92) … honored at the end of year banquet with the Patrick Reilly McManus Captains’ Award and was announced as one of two men’s captains for 2016-17 season.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2014-15): Had a strong second season with the Irish, particularly in postseason meets … swam with 200 medley relay and 800 free relay teams at NCAA Championship, anchoring the 200 medley team to 24th (19.87 split, 1:28.90) and taking the third leg of the 800 free to help team finish 16th (1:35.86 split, 6:25.54) … began the year at the Dennis Stark Relays, swimming second in the 800 free relay (1:44.16 split) team that took first (6:53.15) and fourth in the 400 free relay relay (46.54 split) that also won (3:05.28) … versus Purdue, touched the wall in third place in 200 free (1:40.69) and came in fifth in 100 free (47.20), helping the 400 free relay A-team to second (46.11 split, 3:04.74) … against Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh, finished sixth in the 200 free relay with the B-team lineup (21.60 lead split, 1:24.53) … swam the 100 fly in 51.04 and the 100 free in 47.29 … was next in action at the Hawkeye Invitational, touching the wall in 1:50.09 in the 200 IM morning prelims … swam with the C-team lineup in the 400 medley relay, clocking a 49.57 fly split and helping the squad to sixth place (3:20.82) … finished in sixth place in 200 free (1:38.59) after clocking in a 1:38.94 in the prelims … helped A-team in 800 free relay clinch second place (1:39.21) with their 6:34.27 time … took 11th in 200 fly (1:55.23 finals, 1:52.82 prelims) … swam third on B-team in 400 free relay (45.32 split), taking fourth place (3:02.91) … took fifth place in the 200 IM against Michigan and Northwestern (1:55.04) … against Wisconsin, touched the wall in sixth place in 200 free (1:40.09) and helped both A-teams in the 800 free relay (1:41.60 lead split) and 200 free relay (21.33 anchor split) to fourth place finishes … also took eighth in the 100 free (46.86) … in Shamrock Invitational, swam lead leg with B-team in 200 free relay, clocking a 21.55 split and helping the team finish in 1:24.20 … touched the wall in 1:55.03 in 200 IM … helped C-team to seventh place in the 400 medley relay (3:26.21, 50.78 split) … anchored the B-team in 200 medley relay (21.02 split, 1:32.83) … took fifth in 200 free (1:42.10) … swam lead leg on A-team in 800 free relay (1:42.36 split) … came in 11th in 200 fly (1:56.82) … anchored 400 free relay A-team to third place (46.22 split, 3:03.19) … versus Cleveland State, anchored B-team in 200 medley to second (21.15 split, 1:33.78) … took second in both the 200 fly (1:54.23), 200 back (1:57.15) and 200 IM (1:55.53) … at ACC Championships, swam third leg of 800 free relay (1:35.51 split), finishing fourth and setting new school record time of 6:21.51 … finished 23rd in 200 IM (1:48.40), clocking in at 1:46.53 in morning prelims … touched the wall 16th in 200 free (1:38.10) after morning prelim time of 1:37.00 … anchored the 400 free relay to seventh place (44.83 split, 2:56.03) … at NCAA Last Chance meet, swam 100 free in time of 45.48 … won team’s most improved swimmer award and the Charles Blanchard award … earned a monogram.
AS A FRESHMAN (2013-14): Saw action in the dual meet versus Cleveland State, swimming past the field en route to a first-place finish in the 500 free (4:34.65) … also competed at the Shamrock Invitational, placing fourth in the 200 IM (1:51.25), seventh in the 100 fly (49.73) and third in the 200 fly (1:50.80) … also competed in three events at the Hawkeye Invitational, swimming to a sixth-place finish in the 200 free (1:39.24), 12th in the 200 fly (1:51.18) and 13th in the 200 IM (1:50.35).
PREP AND PERSONAL: Swam with the Rochester Orcas Swim Club during prep career … was the 2013 Minnesota state champion in the 200 free, 200 fly and 200 IM … recipient of the team’s most valuable player award from 2010-13 … qualified for the NCSA Junior Nationals in March of 2013 … member of the National Honor Society and the student council at Byron High School … son of Bruce and Roberta Fujan … has one brother, Daniel … has two sisters, Brianna and Caitlin … enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business, majoring in Management Consulting.
