AS A FRESHMAN: Competed in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with the Irish throughout the season … began collegiate career by swimming with the 400 medley relay B-team at the Dennis Stark Relays on Oct. 10 (1:01.88 split, 3:35.03), the 3×100 breast relay (1:02.70 split, 2:55.71) and the 200 medley relay B-team (28.21 split, 1:37.09) … against Purdue (Nov. 1), swam the 100 breast (1:01.40) and the 200 breast (2:16.17) … against Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech (Nov. 7-8), clocked a 1:01.51 in the 100 breast and a 2:17.43 time in the 200 breast … earned a 27.17 split-time swimming second in the 200 medley relay with the D-squad; a 1:00.91 split in the 400 medley relay (also with the D-squad), and a 50.51 split with the D-team of the 400 free relay … at the Hawkeye Invitational (Dec. 5-7), swam in the evening finals in the 200 IM (1:55.25 prelims, 1:57.27 finals), the 100 breast (58.04 prelims, 58.36 finals) and 200 breast (2:08.72 prelims, 2:09.16 finals) … also swam in C-team lineup in the 200 medley relay (26.44 split, 1:35.39) … versus Michigan and Northwestern (Jan. 9-10), clocked a 1:02.19 in the 100 breast and 2:17.97 in the 200 breast … swam a 1:56.14 in the 200 IM at the Shamrock Invitational (Jan. 30-31) and touched the wall in 57.13 in the 100 breast and 2:05.54 in the 200 breast … swam second leg in the 200 medley relay C-team lineup (25.92 split, 1:31.83) … closed the season against Cleveland State (Feb. 7) and clocked a 51.90 time in the 100 fly … swam with C-team lineup in the 200 free relay (21.63 split) … finished first in the 100 breast (57.86).

PREP & PERSONAL: Swam with the JCC Waves Club team and on school team during prep career … club team record-holder in multiple events and captain of the elite group team for 2013-14 … as a senior, set the CIF-SS Division I record in the 200 medley relay event on prep team after holding the record in the 400 medley relay as a sophomore on club team … a finalist in state championship meet all four years in the 100 breaststroke, 200 individual medley (IM), 200 medley relay and 200 free relay … set top time in high school pool every year in those events … prep team won 2014 CIF-SS Division I state championship and were Pacific Coast League repeat champions from 2012-14 … qualified in USA Swimming Junior Nationals in 200 breaststroke sophomore through senior year, qualifying in the 200 IM as a junior and senior and the 100 breaststroke his senior year … a 2014 Winter National qualifier in 200 breaststroke … earned four varsity letters on University High’s swimming team … named USA Swimming Scholastic All-American 2012 through 2014 and was named school’s Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2014 … an AP scholar and member of the California Scholarship Federation … received the California State Convention Latin Scholar Athlete Award … graduated from University High in spring 2014 … hails from Irvine, California, and attended same high school as fellow Fighting Irish athletes Andrew Dawson (men’s tennis) and Mel McCurrie (men’s soccer) … son of Scott and Denise Schiffer … has one brother, Jonathan … enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business.
