AS A SOPHOMORE:

• Set a personal best time of 6.93 in the finals of the Illini Classic 60m (indoor).
• Recorded a PR of 21.84 in the 200m at the ACC Indoor Championship.
• Was a member of the top 4x400m relay team in 2017, recording a time of 3:11.81 at the ACC Indoor Championships.
• Marked a PR performance of 10.72 in the 100m at the Louisville Invite (outdoor).

AS A FRESHMAN:

• Was a member of the Men’s Soccer team practice squad.
• Did not participate in Track and field.

PREP AND PERSONAL:

• Graduated from Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse, NY) in spring of 2015.
• Participated in Soccer (3 varsity letters) and Indoor/Outdoor track (5 varsity letters combined) in high school.
• Listed as a 4-star soccer recruit (TopDrawerSoccer) and ranked twelfth best recruit in region (TopDrawerSoccer) in high school.
• Participated in US Olympic Development Academy during his junior and senior year.
• Full name is Zachary Robert Sames Zajdel.
• Son of Robert Zajdel and Carol Sames.
• Has two older sisters (Melissa, Rachel) and a younger brother (Christopher).
• Father Robert ’80, Sister Rachel ’15, and Uncle William ’86 attended Notre Dame.
• Mother Carol ran track at Oklahoma (All American in DMR); Sister Melissa ran track at Princeton.
• Enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business and double majoring in Finance and Economics.
