One-year monogram winner … intelligent and versatile player …competitive, athletic midfielder who contributed depth in both training and match situations … never saw a challenge she wouldn[apos]t attack head-on … provided veteran leadership on the pitch and in the locker room during her two seasons with the Irish … showed exceptional ability to balance academic and athletic demands, plus responsibilities as a resident assistant in campus dormitory (Lyons Hall) and tutor in Notre Dame[apos]s Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes.
AS A SENIOR: Appeared in two matches during her final collegiate season, totalling 14 minutes of action … made debut in Notre Dame uniform against East Carolina, playing final seven minutes in 5-0 Irish victory … returned to the pitch on Senior Night against Seton Hall, coming on late in first half of 5-1 Notre Dame win.
AS A JUNIOR: Did not play after earning spot on roster through preseason tryouts.
PRIOR TO NOTRE DAME: Spent 2009-10 academic year at Binghamton University, where she played in 15 matches for the Bearcats, helping them to a 9-7-2 record and berth in the America East Conference championship semifinals … named to America East Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll … transferred to Notre Dame prior to the 2010-11 academic year, but did not play soccer after undergoing a pair of surgeries on her right foot.
ODP/CLUB HIGHLIGHTS: Three-year member New York West ODP team… Competed for Empire United club, and also spent time with Syracuse FC … 2007 New York State West State Cup Champions.
PREP & PERSONAL: Graduated from Starpoint High School in Lockport, N.Y. … first player from her high school team ever to earn Division I scholarship … piled up 48 goals and 89 assists in 78 matches as four-year starter … three-time all-league selection … two-time team MVP and team captain… two-time Starpoint High School Athlete of the Week… also ran track (middle distance) as a high school senior … Empire State Games gold medalist… ECIC All-Academic Team… class valedictorian… National Honor Society … AP Scholar Award… U.S. Air Force Award for math and science … daughter of Cheryl and David Borner … has younger brother, Michael … graduated in May 2013 from Notre Dame[apos]s College of Engineering with her bachelor[apos]s degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering … member of Tau Beta Pi (national engineering honor society).
