AS A JUNIOR: 

  • Stepped into the starter’s role in first full season of action, starting all 20 games
  • Primarily used in the midfield but moved into the front line for an added offensive spark in several games
  • Scored first goal of the season in a 6-0 win over Valparaiso (Aug. 21) to start the season
  • Added a goal in Notre Dame’s 3-0 win over Toledo (Aug. 23)
  • Notched her third goal of the season with a game-winning tally against Syracuse in a 1-0 Irish victory, adding three shots and two shots on goal (Oct. 8)
  • Fired three shots in a 1-0 win over Wake Forest (Oct. 16)
  • Peppered seven shots (four SOG) against Oakland in a 5-0 victory in the first round of the NCAA Championship (Nov. 13)
  • Earned a monogram

AS A SOPHOMORE: 

  • Did not play during the 2014 season due to injury

AS A FRESHMAN:

  • Did not play in regular season after suffering torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in left knee during exhibition match against Baylor
  • Recorded assist in team’s first preseason contest against Xavier, setting up Lauren Bohaboy’s goal in 32nd minute

NATIONAL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Called in to camp with the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team in summer of 2016 and 2017
  • Earned first invitation to U.S. Soccer Under-20 Women’s National Team camp in April 2013
  • Regular in the U.S. Soccer youth national team system since 2009
  • Previously chosen for player pools at the U-14, U-15, U-17 and U-18 levels

ODP/CLUB HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Member of Region II ODP Team from 2008-12
  • Played in ODP Thanksgiving Interregional Tournaments in 2008, 2009 and 2010
  • Joined ODP Region II roster for 2008 trip to Costa Rica

PREP & PERSONAL:

  • Graduated from Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
  • Tallied 53 goals and 50 assists (156 points) during prep career, despite missing all but seven matches as a junior (2011) with injury
  • Had personal-best 18 goals as both sophomore (2010) and senior (2012), and personal-best 20 assists as a senior (along with 17 assists in sophomore season)
  • Led Walsh Jesuit to 2010 ESPN RISE national championship, as well as state championships in 2010 (Division I) and 2012 (Division II)
  • School also earned four regional titles and reached state semifinals each of her four prep seasons (2009-12)
  • Two-time Gatorade Ohio High School Player of the Year (2010, 2012)
  • Two-time NSCAA Youth All-America Team pick (2011, 2012)
  • 2012 NSCAA High School All-America choice
  • 2010 ESPNHS first-team All-America honoree

  • Hails from same high school as 2012 Notre Dame graduate and standout forward/midfielder Rose Augustin (a third-team all-region and NCAA College Cup All-Tournament pick in 2010 after leading Fighting Irish to their third national championship), as well as the Tulisiak sisters, Kelly (1998-2001) and Kate (2001-04)
  • Followed much same high school and club team path as Augustin (two state titles, one national title, All-America honors and Gatorade state player of the year award), and even finished tied with Augustin on Walsh Jesuit’s career points list
  • Played one season of varsity basketball (as freshman in 2009-10 alongside older sister, Cheryl), helping Walsh Jesuit to Division II state semifinals
  • Also spent time volunteering at local nursing home and with Salvation Army, and served as mentor and coach for local youth soccer players
  • Daughter of Barbara and Gerard Yu
  • Has older brother (Jason) and three older sisters (Nicole, Ashley and Cheryl)
  • One of two Ohio residents on 2014 Notre Dame roster along with classmate Emily Geyer (Dublin)
  • Along with Augustin and Tulisiak sisters, other recent notable Ohio natives who played for Notre Dame include Maple Heights product Amanda Cinalli (2004-07) and Brecksville resident Courtney Rosen (2006-09)
  • Graduated in May 2017 with a degree in science-business and is pursuing a master’s degree in 2017-18
