Bio

Yulander Wells, Jr. was named Deputy Director of Athletics for Business Operations, Finance, and Revenue Strategy for the University of Notre Dame athletics department in January 2023.

Education:
Wells, Jr. earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance, and an MBA in Operations Management from North Central College. He was a two-sport athlete, serving as a three-year captain for the basketball team, and competing on the track and field team.

Job Responsibilities:
Wells, Jr. serves on the Executive Team providing oversight of multiple areas of the department’s operations, which includes the business office, event management, facilities and capital projects, business intelligence, equipment operations, and information technology. Additionally, he oversees specific revenue operations roles, such as tickets sales and operations, and athletics camps and clinics. Wells, Jr. also has oversight of several public facilities (Compton Family Ice Arena, Warren Golf Course, Burke Golf Course, and Eck Tennis Center). Throughout his time at Notre Dame, he has served as the sport administrator for the Irish Men’s Basketball program, and has also overseen corporate sponsorships, while continuing to work closely with the Notre Dame development teams to align fundraising with athletic department strategic priorities.

Past Experience:
Wells, Jr. has served in multiple leadership roles throughout his professional career. Prior to arriving at Notre Dame, he served as the Deputy Director of Athletics for External Affairs at Harvard University. During his time at the University of South Florida he had an array of experience, serving as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration and Development, and prior to, as the Chief Financial Officer. He also served as the Assistant Controller for the University of Florida Athletics Association and Gator Boosters, Inc. Before entering the field of intercollegiate athletics and higher education, Wells, Jr. worked for Angie’s List, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and served as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at North Central College. His career has been defined on driving financial sustainability, collaborative partnerships, operational excellence, and principled decision making.

Personal:
Yulander is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He and his wife, Janelle, live in Granger with their three sons.
