SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame baseball head coach Shawn Stiffler announced the hiring of Logan Robbins as an assistant coach for Fighting Irish baseball. Robbins will join the Irish after spending seven seasons at Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia.
Robbins led the Monarch offense to new heights during his time in Norfolk. Robbins’s hitters finished second in Conference USA in 2021 and 2022, hitting a .301 and a .296 team average, respectively. In 2021, the Monarchs finish second in the country with 105 home runs, smashing the previous home run record of 67, followed by a 2022 squad that hit 128 home runs as a team, finishing third nationally. Robbins’s offense finished in the top 15 nationally in home runs, home runs per game, scoring and slugging percentage.
The 2022 offense saw three players hit above the .300 plateau, led by Matt Coutney’s .376 average and a team-leading 27 home runs. Coutney was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 10th round of this past summer’s MLB Draft. He was joined by Andy Garriola, who led Robbins’s offense with 80 RBI and 25 home runs and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 17th round.
Prior to his time at Old Dominion, he spent the 2015 season at Kentucky Wesleyan College where he helped lead the Panthers to a 32-18 overall record and a 15-9 mark in conference play. His offense led their league in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
Robbins played at Western Kentucky University and was a 10th round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves in 2011.
