Summer Internships: Aine Maseker

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – This summer our student-athletes were hard at work off the field gaining life experiences in their desired fields. Here’s Aine Maseker story:

Where did you spend your summer?
I worked at Bank of America in New York City.
What was your position at the company?
This summer I was the Summer Sales & Trading Analyst with Bank of America
What were some of the biggest things you learned from your internship?
Some things I learned during my time there were professional behavior, relationship building, fundamentals of bond valuation, risk analysis, nature of Sales versus Trading, and the underwriting process of deals.
How did you find this internship?
It was slightly unconventional. I attended a Bank of America event and made a strong connection with one of the Managing Directors who guided me and encouraged me throughout the whole application process.
What were some challenges you faced at your internship?
There was a steep learning curve especially given a lot of the interns I interned with did the Bank of America Sales & Trading Sophomore Program had knowledge and experience on the trading floor whereas I did a Private Equity sophomore internship.
Biggest takeaway from the internship you can relate to in lacrosse?
Being an athlete heavily translated into my position and even those I worked with said that. Building strong and growing relationships with your team and being an effective communicator.
Do you plan to work for said company following graduation?
Yes, I have accepted an offer as a Credit Sales Analyst to start in July 2024 in New York.
